Sacramental Preparation — Baptism
If your desire is to have your child over the age of 7 baptized, then we have a great program for you! Our Baptism program integrates with the Rite of Christian Initiation process (RCIA), is specifically adapted for children and teens, and is a family-based journey.
Sacramental Preparation — Reconciliation & Eucharist
In order to prepare our children to receive their 1st Reconciliation and 1st Eucharist, we use a 2-year preparation approach at Saint Serra. At the end of their first year of preparation, students receive their 1st Reconciliation and at the end of the 2nd year they receive their 1st Eucharist. They can start the program anytime after 1st grade and we do have different curriculum for younger grades and older grades. Once they have completed their 2-year sacramental preparation studies and have received both sacraments, they can be enrolled in continuing religious education studies at their current grade level until they finish 8th grade. They can then begin sacramental preparation for the sacrament of Confirmation.
Sacramental Preparation — Confirmation
For High Schoolers (Grades 9–12), The sacrament of Confirmation, along with Baptism and Eucharist, is one of the three sacraments of initiation. At Confirmation, the Holy Spirit strengthens the baptized Christian and endows them with gifts to enable them to carry out our mission to be Christ in the world and to continue building God’s kingdom. To be a full member of the Catholic Church, one needs to be baptized, confirmed and receive first Eucharist. Preparation to receive the sacrament of Confirmation takes place in high school, over a two-year period.
